State Resource Group Orientation and Local resource Group Selection workshop - 3 May 2014 to 7 May 2014
A State resource
group has been formed under PRI-CBO Convergence pilot in order to help to customize
the interventions made under the project, facilitate in-house
capacity building activities , mould process of activities under the
project and be a permanent resource within the state for further
escalation of the project after the pilot.
The SRG orientation was conducted from 3rd
May 2014 during which the findings of the scoping study were also
discussed and plan of action charted out for the Local Resource
Group (LRG)identification, training module development etc.
Umed has entered
into a partnership for PRI-CBO Convergence with Kerala’s State
Poverty Eradication Mission- Kudumbashree, identified as a National
Resource Organization (NRO) by NRLM. Three blocks namely Shahapur,
Deoli and Mohol have been selected from the districts of Thane,
Wardha and Solapur selected for the project implementation. The
blocks within these districts were selected on the basis of existing
CBO structure developed by MAVIM (in Thane, Solapur); the Sanghatika
model in Wardha as well as considering the tenure of Gram Panchayats
in the blocks.
and Training of Local Resource Group (LRG)
The Local resource
group formation is an important part of this pilot as they will be
the leading actors for social mobilisation
and sensitization of community. They will also implement the
activities at village level and organise the community to ensure
their participation in the decision making process. LRG selection
from 20 gram panchayats in each block and first round of training
have been conducted in all three blocks under this pilot.

Brainstorming session was held on developing the framework of partnership between Panchayati Raj Instititute (PRIs) and Self help groups (SHGs)(Community based organisations-CBOs) and up-scaling initiative in presence of Shri. S.M.Vijayanand (IAS), Additional secretary, Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD),Govt. of India and Shri. V. Giriraj ,Principal secretary,Rural development department, Govt. of Maharashtra.
